Bulawayo hosts SECZ indaba   

THE Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZ) will meet business
leaders and legal experts in Bulawayo today to gather input on the proposed
2019 Securities and Exchange Act Ammendment. The high-level stakehodler
engagement forum will be held at a local hotel from 7am to 10am and is
expected to draw a diversity of expert audience, organisers said. The
proposed amendments to the Securities and Exchange Act are set to enhance
the country's capital markets, unlock value as well as enhance investor

Karo finalises exploration exercise   

KARO Resources is finalising the resource exploration and quantification
programme at its mining site for the $4,2 billion platinum investment as per
promise to President Mnangagwa when the mining concern met him early last
month. Over the past week, the miner had done over 4 000 kilometres at the
Mhondoro-Ngezi mining site and will in the next few days round up the
geophysics programme that will precede mining operations.

Old Mutual sets prices for SME complex   

OLD MUTUAL has set prices for its $21,4 million Small to Medium Enterprise
complex, which is expected to be commissioned this December in an effort to
help emerging businesses formalise into organised and profitable ventures.
The one-stop-shop complex has 12 000 square metres of prime retail space
configured to accommodate a diverse range of SME business models under one
roof. Old Mutual Group Chief Operating Officer Isiah Mashinya told The
Herald Business that the complex will be a game-changer in the country's SME

Ecobank gives back to society   

ECOBANK Zimbabwe officials have invested thousands of dollars back into the
community in line with the pan-African financial institution's philosophy.
The bank's staffers recently spent a day at Mother of Peace Children's Home
in Mutoko and Sigombe Primary School in Nkulumane, Bulawayo. At Mother of
Peace Children's Home, the bank renovated two dormitories, set up a library
and donated furniture, books,  an assortment of groceries, water treatment
chemicals, disinfectants and clothing for the children.

NRZ says cargo volumes on upward trend   

THE National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) says its business volumes continue
on an upward trend after it moved more than 1,4 million tonnes of cargo
between 1 July and 31 October 2018. The tonnage is an increase of four
percent from the 1,3 million tonnes moved during the same period last year,
public relations manager, Mr Nyasha Maravanyika, said yesterday.

Redcliff unveils $9m budget   

REDCLIFF Municipality has unveiled a $9,9 million 2019 budget that is set to
tackle perennial water supply challenges since the closure of Ziscosteel in
2008. The budget, based on internal revenue collection, is $1,9 million up
from last year's budget of $8 million. Redcliff Mayor, Councillor Clayton
Masiyatsva said the increase was a result of economic challenges facing the

A LOCAL Information Communication Technology (ICT) company, EduTech
Zimbabwe, has partnered Government in equipping schools with top notch
digital gadgets towards meeting the Transitional Stabilisation Programme
(TSP) goals. EduTech provides interactive innovation solutions for schools
and has set aside $73 000 to provide tablets, mobile scanners, data
management and research software and projectors for 365 school
administrators, inspectors and directors countrywide in the first phase.

THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company is targeting to attract
at least 20 countries to participate at its 60th Edition set for April 23-17
next year. The company is exhibiting at the on-going Intra African Trade
Fair in Cairo, Egypt. According to ZITF marketing and public relations

Temporary importation for visitors' vehicles   

The importation and regulation of such vehicles is provided for in terms of
the Customs and Excise Act, Section 124 as read with the Customs and Excise
(General) Regulations, SI 154 of 2001, as amended. Upon entry into Zimbabwe,
a visitor bringing in a foreign registered private vehicle shall be required

Delta pours $21m in Chibuku Super plant   

DELTA Corporation has invested $21 million on its Chibuku Super plant in
Fairbridge and effluent pipeline to serve communities in Umguza District.
The company's general manager for the sorghum division, Mr Tich Rinomhota,
said this in an interview after the commissioning of a $260 000 upgrade of a
road junction that links its Fairbridge Chibuku Super plant with the

Judicial management fictitious: Court. . .Merlin-Merspin saga cleared   

THE High Court in Bulawayo has ruled that Merlin (Private) Limited, which is
under judicial management, is a fictitious and non-existent company and does
not in any way affect the status of Merspin Limited. The two Bulawayo-based
textile firms are owned by Maydeep Investments, which is owned by prominent
city businessman, Mr Delma Lupepe. According to recent court papers filed at
High Court in Bulawayo case number 2724/18, Justice Martin Makonese ordered

Zim companies target $5m deals at IATF   

Zimbabwean companies exhibiting at the Intra African Trade Fair in Cairo,
Egypt have set themselves a target to pen deals worth around US$5 million

Barcelos opens shop in Harare   

South African fast-food giant Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken restaurant is
set to open its first Harare branch this week, following the opening of
another outlet in Bulawayo. Barcelos is a renowned international restaurant
worldwide famous for marinated Portuguese styled peri-peri chicken. Company
director Benson Muneri said the quick services restaurant is here to compete

Seed Co invests US$10m in dryers   

ZIMBABWE's largest seed producer, Seed Co Limited is investing US$10 million
towards development of seed-drying facilities to expedite delivery of seed
to the market and reduce losses. The seed-drying technology, to be piloted
in Zimbabwe first before being introduced in Seed Co's other regional
markets, is expected to be commissioned by 2020. Seed Co said there has been
some delays in dry down of maize seed and an increase in diseases due to
late start of the rains as a result of climate change .

Art revenue up 40pc   

Amalgamated Regional Trading (ART) revenue for the full-year to September
30, 2018 rose 40 percent to $46,9 million on increased demand and improved
production output in the battery business. The battery division recorded $32
million revenue, representing 42 percent growth from prior year as it
remains the group's cash cow. During the period under review, the group
battled foreign currency shortages which resulted in difficulties in
importing essential raw materials and settling debts to foreign creditors.
