President opens women's bank . . . lasting solution to cash shortages

President Mnangagwa yesterday launched the Zimbabwe Women's Microfinance
Bank in Harare where he announced that Government is working on permanent
solutions to the current cash shortages. The bank is the first of its kind
in the Sadc region and it will offer loans to women, youths and other
small-scale businesses. President Mnangagwa, who was accompanied by First
Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa, said the bank laid the foundation for Vision 2030
which entails that Zimbabwe should attain middle-income economy status in
the next 12 years.
"I am aware of the cash and foreign currency challenges, which are a result

Zimbabwe Women Micro-finance Bank Opens, Collaborates With OneMoney To
Disburse Loans
Today marked the opening of Zimbabwe's first women's bank, Zimbabwe Women
Micro-finance Bank (ZWMB) which is mandated to give women increased access
to finance at befitting terms. Zimbabwean women are said to be unsatisfied
with the current bank services because banks are developing products that
don't resonate with female consumers. Hence bringing in a financial
institution that pays attention to women's requirements was imperative.

NRZ eyes more agreements
THE National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is currently negotiating with some
partners in the shipping line, with a view to signing more service level
agreements to boost business, an official has said. Last year, NRZ signed a
deal with Zimasco and CFM of Mozambique, which saw the parastatal moving
about one million tonnes of chrome annually from the Great Dyke to the ports
of Beira and Maputo along the Mozambican rail network.

ZNCC chapter seeks decentralisation
THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Matabeleland Chapter has
called for the business association to decentralise its operations, saying
the current set up was making decision making cumbersome. Decentralisation
is the process of distributing power away from the centre of an

Govt still to process title deeds for Colleen Bawn, Byo factories
LOCAL cement producer, PPC Zimbabwe, says the disposal of houses at its
Colleen Bawn and Bulawayo factories will be completed during the 2019
financial year, as government was still processing sectional title deeds. In
September 2015, the PPC Zimbabwe board approved the disposal of houses at
its Colleen Bawn and Bulawayo factories, which was anticipated to be

CAAZ sheds light on Turkish Airlines deal
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe's acting general manager, Tawanda Gusha
has said Turkish Airlines has not made any formal communication with
Zimbabwe to establish flights between Harare and Turkey despite reports the
deal is nearing fruition. In 2016, there were reports that Turkish Airlines
would introduce direct flights to Harare at the beginning of 2017, as a move
to improve the ease of doing business between Harare and Istanbul.

Zimpapers To Introduce News Channel By 30 July
Zimpapers will be introducing 6 new channels, the first of which will be
going on-air before the end of July. Zimpapers CEO, Pikirayi Deketeke,
disclosed this information at Zimpapers' annual general meeting. 'Feel Good'
news? Broadcasting is not exactly a new avenue for Zimpapers. Last year,
Zimpapers introduced ZTN Network and these were the baby steps necessary to

Multichoice Africa Rakes In $3.7 Billion In Revenues
The company which own's Multichoice -Nasper's- managed to grow their video
entertainment segment's revenue to $3.7-billion. This video segment is
getting the bulk of it's revenue from DStv, GOtv and Showmax (Multichoice's
Netflix competitor) which are all Multichoice services. Whilst a stronger
rand had positive impact, the revenues and overall results are being said to
have been affected by the devaluation of the Naira (Nigeria) and Kwanza

'Banks to lead economic recovery'
Government is working with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) and other
relevant bodies to ensure the country's banking sector is in a position to
play key intermediary roles in the recovery of the economy, President
Mnangagwa said yesterday. The President said this while officially launching
the Zimbabwe Women's Micro-Finance Bank in Harare.

Tobacco production hits 207 million kgs
Zimbabwe's tobacco production hit 207 million kg yesterday, the highest
volume produced in post land reform, according to Tobacco and Industry
Marketing Board. Sales went up 29 percent from 161 million kg while the
total value of the crop increased 29 percent to $605,8 million from $470
million realised in the previous comparable period. Zimbabwe is the world's
fourth largest tobacco producer of flu cured tobacco.

Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development Minister Mike Bimha and
Corporate Social Responsibility Network Zimbabwe executive director Willard

Zim steps up marketing efforts in UK
The Government has stepped up marketing efforts in the United Kingdom (UK)
as a way to regain the tourism market in that country, a Cabinet Minister
has said. Since the ushering in of a new administration, Zimbabwe has been

community. Through the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), the country is
participating at the Experience Africa Travel Trade Show in London, the UK,

Zimre conversion to boost revenue growth
Zimre Holdings Limited (ZHL) says conversion of proceeds from sale of Zimre
Centre in Harare towards construction of the Victoria Falls Sawanga Mall,
will enhance revenue growth for the firm in the financial year 2019.
Conversion of Nicoz House in Bulawayo into student accommodation is also
expected to boost the firm's numbers going forward.

CFI still working on reversing Langford sale
Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed entity CFI Holdings Limited, says it is still
working on reversing the sale of one of its assets Langford Estates and has
since instituted legal proceedings. Langford Estates was sold to Fidelity
Life back in 2015 in exchange of CFI's $18 million debt. From Langford's 834
hectares, Fidelity Life expected to generate $200 million through the sale
