Zimbabwe's Mnangagwa says no going back to dollarisation

Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa vowed on Friday not to revert to
using the U.S. dollar after a new local currency plunged against the
greenback since its introduction this year, fuelling inflation and economic
hardship. The government ended a decade of dollarisation in June, partly to
stem demand for the increasingly scarce currency, a decision economists
estimate pushed inflation to 440%, eroding wages and savings

ZIDA to give FDI comfort, security

ZIMBABWE has edged closer to promulgating the Zimbabwe Investment
Development Agency (ZIDA) Bill, a proposed piece of legislation designed to

NMB profit jumps   

Banking firm NMBZ Holdings Limited reported a 103 percent jump in profit
before tax to $146 million for the nine months to September 30, 2019,
compared to $72 million in the same period last year.This resulted in total

Mthuli reiterates credit scheme for miners   

GOVERNMENT says it is mulling provision of credit guarantee scheme to the
mining sector to realise the envisaged mining sector growth by 2023.
Addressing business stakeholders at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of
Commerce (ZNCC) 2019 business review conference recently, Minister of
Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube said that the move
would ensure access to capital to this critical sector whose proceeds are

Passenger safety our priority: Zupco   

Zupco is withdrawing at least 42 franchised buses and commuter omnibuses
that failed Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) tests until the owners
have fixed the faults and been granted the required certificates. Zupco is
making 500 000 urban journeys a day, that is one-way trips on a single
route, and moving around 100 000 passengers per day on its inter-city

Hospitality firm taken to court over US$1m debt   

The Zimbabwe Asset Management Corporation (Zamco) has taken Mazowe Gardens
Plaza to the High Court seeking to recover a $1,162 million debt it took
over from a local financial institution.Zamco is a special purpose vehicle
established by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to hive off non-performing loans
(NPLs) from the balance sheets of banks to be able to lend.

Service stations breed corruption

FUEL shortages have created room for corruption at Harare service stations,
as non-runner vehicles with modified tanks are being pushed to pumps to

Festive season pushes Dawn properties profits

DAWN Properties says it expects an increase in rentals from its properties
during the festive season to drive its profitability for the remainder of
the financial year. In a latest trading update, the property firm said it
recorded a 223 percent jump in revenue to $15,2 million in the nine months
to September. Dawn Properties owns most hotel buildings under the African
Sun group such as Monomotapa in Harare, Troutbeck Inn in Nyanga, Elephant
Hills in Victoria Falls and Carribbea Bay Hotel in Kariba..

No Xmas break for Mat'land firms   

Most manufacturing companies in Matabeleland region have suspended going for
annual shutdown in order to boost production. The companies have not been
operating at full capacity the greater part of the year due to operational
