TBS auction seeks to raise $100m   

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) says it will carry out a third Treasury
Bills (TBs) auction to raise $100 million. The TBs auction system resumed
this August, with two auctions carried out last month. The first and second
TBs auctions raised $30 million and $60 million, respectively. The latest
issue will be a 92-day instrument, aimed at mobilising funding for

Govt vows to close forex loopholes   

Government will continue to monitor the architecture of the country's
financial system to close all loopholes that unscrupulous dealers could use
to manipulate the exchange rate, Finance and Economic Development Minister
Professor Mthuli Ncube revealed on Monday. This comes in the wake of last
week's sharp devaluation of the local currency, the Zimbabwe Dollar, which
authorities said had been driven by feverish speculation on the black

Zim, SA, Botswana Landrover tour attracts 70 world tourists   

A total of 70 tourists from across the globe, arrived in the country
yesterday through South Africa via a temporary crossing point along the
Limpopo River to take part in the inaugural Defender challenge in the
Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area (GMTFCA). The Mega-Park
is made up of national parks from Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
During the tour, the visitors from the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Mexico,
Ireland and South Africa will leave for Botswana through Mlambaphele Border

RBZ dismisses reports   

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) says all
bank accounts of companies implicated in financial shenanigans remain
frozen. The central bank said this yesterday while refuting reports
circulating on social media that the accounts were unfrozen.

Virtual comes through for RTG   

Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has posted a profit before tax of $6,7 million
in the six months to June 30, a 16-fold jump from $416 000 in the prior
comparable period on the back of a 170 percent rise in revenues. Group
revenues rose to $37 million, despite business disruption in the form of the
closure of Rainbow Bulawayo for refurbishment during the period under

Retailers shift blame on price increases   

RETAILERS, who stand accused of profiteering, have attributed the relentless
price increases to currency instability and the rising cost of doing
business. In an interview, Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR)
president, Mr Denford Mutashu, said the inflationary environment, which saw
local currency trading at 1:20 to the US dollar last week before dropping to
1:14 this week, has led to a general rise in the cost of doing business,
forcing their members to seek cushion in price adjustments.

Government allocates $72m for water, sewer reticulation to councils   

Government has extended $72,3 million to 16 municipalities in a bid to
tackle water and sewer challenges that are threatening to expose residents
to waterborne diseases. The development, which comes after the City of
Harare was allocated $37,4 million recently, was announced by Finance and
Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube yesterday.

Gold panners invade mine   

ABOUT 3 000 illegal gold panners have reportedly invaded a mining claim at
Lonely Gold Mine in Inyathi, Bubi district, in Matabeleland North province
after news spread that 3kgs of the mineral worth about US$135 000 was mined
last week. Lonely Mine is located about 80km north of Bulawayo and a few
kilometres from Inyati Mission in the gold-producing Bubi greenstone belt.
The mine was the largest single gold producer in the area until its closure
in the mid-1990s. Small scale miners have since taken over the mine, in form
of mining claims, some of which have been lying idle due to lack of
resources.

Additional 100MW imports from Mozambique   

Zimbabwe has obtained an additional 100MW from Mozambique, effective October
1, 2019, as Government continues to address power shortages that have
resulted in long hours of load-shedding. Energy and Power Development
Minister Advocate Fortune Chasi, who was in Maputo last week where he met
that county's Energy Minister Ernesto Max Tonela, confirmed the development

Govt installs trackers on vehicles   

The Central Mechanical and Equipment Department (CMED) has set up a control
room at its headquarters in the city to monitor the movement of all
Government vehicles and collecting information on vehicle performance and
behaviour of drivers. The department has up to date installed 100 vehicles
and Zupco buses with trackers. This is in line with Government's
cost-containment measures, announced by Finance and Economic Development
Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube in the 2019 National Budget Statement.

Vaya Now At An Advanced Stage In Preparing To Launch Electric Vehicles In
Zimbabwe

Econet is set to launch electric cars in Zimbabwe and 2 other African
countries Techzim reports. Speaking to the Publication, Oswald Jumira, Vaya
Team Lead said: Mr Masiyiwa does not engage in debates. If you hear him
talking about something, we are moving forward to do something. I can
confirm that we are awaiting delivery of electric vehicles in Zimbabwe, and
two other countries. Our sister company DPA is building a national network
of electric vehicle charging centers that will span the length and breadth
