Zim genius designs disinfecting machine
Maxwell Chikumbutso, a United States-based Zimbabwean widely-acclaimed for
his innovations that include the world's first evergreen power generator
which can produce electricity using radio frequencies, has developed a
prototype automated disinfecting machine to help fight the coronavirus
pandemic. In a Facebook post recently, the gifted innovator and Form 2

Mayor outlines flea market plans
Harare City Council intends to construct at least one flea market in each
suburb to bring sanity in the informal sector following mass demolitions of
illegal structures, Mayor Herbert Gomba has said. Mupedzanhamo Flea Market
is set to be renovated in a way that will foster observance of social
distancing among traders and customers. In an interview on Monday, Mayor
Gomba said areas with existing markets would be spruced up and possibly

dedicated for its own people. The Mabvuku market is there already, we just
want to expand it and accommodate more people," he said. "We don't want to
politicise our markets, we want them to be run professionally. All employees
who are allocating markets based on political affiliation are going to be
removed from the markets division. It has to be done in a manner that is
non-partisan." <http://www.bulls.co.zw/> Read more >

Govt directs GMB to pay farmers within 7 days
GOVERNMENT has directed the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) to ensure farmers
are paid within seven days of delivering their produce to the marketing
depot. Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister Retirerd
Air Marshal Perrance Shiri said this during a ZBCtv's Agro-business Forum
programme. "We would want to provide the best service for our client who are
the farmers. And to that extent, we had a meeting with GMB, which falls
under my Ministry and the Ministry of Finance and we agreed that any farmer
who delivers produce to GMB, should be paid within seven days, so that's a
legitimate expectation by any farmer," he said. The latest development is a
relief to the farmers who have in the past decried delayed payment of the
grain at GMB depots saying this was hampering their preparations for the
upcoming farming seasons. <http://www.bulls.co.zw/> Read more >

tobacco merchant shall draw down a specified amount from the tobacco buying
transitory foreign currency account and sell 50 percent of the proceeds to
the RBZ at the prevailing bank exchange rate on the day of the transaction.
"The remaining 50 percent shall be retained by the tobacco merchant in order
to pay the growers' 50 percent foreign currency entitlement through
transfers to the growers' Foreign Currency Account (FCAs)."
