Hende Moto seeks ZSE listing   

NEWLY established vehicle assembler and manufacturer, Hende Moto (Private)
Limited is working on getting converted into a public company as well as
listing on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE). The Kwekwe-based firm, which
was recently granted a licence by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to offer
car hiring services in the country's hospitality industry, is owned by Dr
Devine Mafa, a Zimbabwean businessman based in the United States of America.
Hende Moto which was registered in Zimbabwe in June last year produces

ZTA Encouraged To Open A Tourism Office In The US

Zimbabwe has been urged to reopen a tourism office in the USA, ZBC news
reports. The Zimbabwean ambassador to the United Nations (UN) in New York,
Dr. Fredrick Shava, said a presence in the US would be ideal even for
Zimbabwe's re-engagement efforts. DR Shava said: For Zimbabwe to tap into
this lucrative market, Zimbabwe tourism should re-establish a tourism office
in the US. In the past this tourism office used to be in Washington DC, it
can still be in Washington DC but we should certainly have an active office

FredaRebecca Mines Gets Approval To Pay Salaries In USD

FredaRebecca Mine in Bindura posted a memo to their employees notifying them
that they had been given the go-ahead to pay their salaries in USD. The memo
that is dated 23 January has since gone viral on social media and it reads
in part: Kindly note that negotiations for USD salary approval have been
concluded we have received the requisite approval from January 2020 to
December 2020 Henceforth payroll is being readjusted to USD and let us

Falgold issues another cautionary statement   

LISTED mining group, Falcon Gold Zimbabwe (Falgold) has again issued a
cautionary statement advising that it is still contemplating a capital raise
initiative which if concluded may have a direct impact on the price of its
shares. Of late, the gold mining concern has been issuing cautionary
statements to that effect and in August last year it announced that it was
considering options for an additional US$2,5 million to recapitalise its

NetOne franchise yields $200m   

State-owned mobile network operator, NetOne's franchise programme is bearing
fruit and has racked in nearly $200 million dollars since launch of the
programme just over a year ago. The franchise programme is aimed at
improving the telecoms operator's distribution channels as it creates
convenience and efficiency, bringing products closer to the market. Chief
executive officer Lazarus Muchenje indicated this is also one way of
empowering the communities under the firm's initiatives to boost
entrepreneurship within communities which has seen thousands of jobs being
created across the value chains throughout the country.

'Act decisively on currency dealings'   

THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) must act decisively on illicit currency
dealings instead of issuing mere threats against gross financial misconduct
that has serious negative effect on the economy, economists say. This comes
after the central bank last week warned it was aware of people who are
manipulating the currency with the intention of destabilising the exchange
rate that has been stable over the last four months.

Increased production key to ending cash crisis   

The cash crisis that is currently bedevilling the country will not end by
just injecting new notes and coins but will require increased effort into
the productive sector, analysts have said. Since November, the Reserve Bank
of Zimbabwe has been injecting new notes and coins into the economy and has
so far put in $150 million with the aim to reach $500 million by half year.

Govt to pay Malaysia extra us$9m for AirZIM planes

THE Zimbabwean government is due to pay an extra US$9,3 million as costs for
the de-preservation of two B777 aircraft bought from Malaysia in 2017, one
of which was delivered in Harare after being stationed in the Asian nation
for close to two years, the Zimbabwe Independent can report. The planes are
part of the botched US$70 million Zimbabwe Airways deal signed between the
controversial airline and the Malaysian authorities. The Malaysians also
slapped government with a US$5 million parking fee bill for the two planes
for the time they were stationary. The parking fees were later set aside

ZBC sued for $6m for copyright

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has been taken to the High Court
by a businessman, who is claiming $6 027 000 from the national broadcaster
for using his original audio-visual works. Dillan Prinsloo is suing ZBC for
copyright infringement and the latter is yet to respond to the lawsuit.
According to court papers, Prinsloo is the owner and author of certain
audio-visual works which he created in 2017, entitled Beautiful Zimbabwe,
consisting of original visual clips numbering up to 41.

Search for new NRZ suitor begins

The renewed search for a suitor for the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ)
is set to begin this week after the US$400 million deal with Diaspora
Infrastructure Development Group (DIDG)-Transnet consortium fell through

THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has authorised the National Railways of
Zimbabwe (NRZ) to collect railage charges in foreign currency for exported
goods. NRZ submitted an appeal to RBZ last year seeking permission to be
allowed to charge all exporters in foreign currency. The central bank

EcoCash Users Now Able To Reverse Transactions Via USSD

EcoCash has introduced a new option for people who've mistakenly sent money
to the wrong individual. By dialling *150# and selecting option 3 (Self
Help/Reversal) EcoCash subscribers can either submit a reversal or approve
the reversal of a transaction. Transaction reversal will require both
parties to approve, so those of you who thought they would be vulnerable to
people when they sell something and then the other party later reverses the

VALUE targets 10k goat farmers   

THE European Union-funded Value Chain Alliance for Livestock Upgrading and
Empowerment (VALUE) project targets to register 10 000 goat farmers across
the country's dry regions with a view to improve livestock production. The
project, which is being implemented by Action Aid Zimbabwe, is part of the
Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme supported by the European Union (EU)
and the Government. Action Aid team leader Mr Newton Chari told Business
Chronicle last week that in the context of climate change, goat production
thrives well as goats are more adaptable to dry regions and less susceptible
