COVID-19 situation update worldwide, as of 26 July 2020

 

Since 31 December 2019 and as of 26 July 2020, 16 018 105 cases of COVID-19
(in accordance with the applied case definitions and testing strategies in
the affected countries) have been reported, including 644 832 deaths.

 

Cases have been reported from:

 

Africa: 828 874 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are South
Africa (434 200), Egypt (91 583), Nigeria (39 977), Ghana (31 851) and
Algeria (26 764).

 

Asia: 3 758 860 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are India (1
385 522), Iran (284 034), Pakistan (273 113), Saudi Arabia (264 973) and
Turkey (225 173).

 

America: 8 620 775 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are United
States (4 178 027), Brazil (2 394 513), Mexico (385 036), Peru (379 884) and
Chile (343 592).

 

Europe: 2 793 217 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Russia
(806 720), United Kingdom (298 681), Spain (272 421), Italy (245 864) and
Germany (205 269).

 

Oceania: 15 683 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Australia
(13 950), New Zealand (1 206), Guam (337), French Polynesia (62) and
Northern Mariana Islands (40).

 

Other: 696 cases have been reported from an international conveyance in
Japan.

 

Deaths have been reported from:

 

Africa: 17 497 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are South
Africa (6 655), Egypt (4 558), Algeria (1 146), Nigeria (856) and Sudan
(715).

 

Asia: 87 103 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are India (32
063), Iran (15 074), Pakistan (5 822), Turkey (5 596) and Indonesia (4 714).

 

America: 337 845 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United
States (146 460), Brazil (86 449), Mexico (43 374), Peru (18 030) and Chile
(9 020).

 

Europe: 202 206 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United
Kingdom (45 738), Italy (35 102), France (30 192), Spain (28 432) and Russia
(13 192).

 

Oceania: 174 deaths; the 4 countries reporting deaths are Australia (145),
New Zealand (22), Guam (5) and Northern Mariana Islands (2).

 

Other: 7 deaths have been reported from an international conveyance in
Japan.

 

Zimbabwe has 2,512 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and 34 deaths.

 

NOTE: On 17 July 2020, Kyrgyzstan has changed their registration statistics
on COVID-19 by introducing two codes (laboratory confirmed cases and
clinical-epidemiological cases). This leads to a significant increase in
case and death numbers on 18 July 2020.
