PPC Zim April sales volumes down 20% 

REGIONAL cement maker, Pretoria Portland Cement says it expects to record a
20% decline in sales volumes on its Zimbabwe subsidiary for the month of
April due to the impact of the COVID-19-imposed lockdown to contain the
spread of the virus. Zimbabwe has been under lockdown since March 30, 2020
initially for 21 days before being extended twice by 14 day periods.
Essential services have been allowed to operate. Government eased
restrictions when it announced the extension of the lockdown on Friday last
week allowing industry and commerce to resume operations on Monday this week

RBZ Freezes More EcoCash, OneMoney Agents- Strategy Still Not Working

The Herald reports that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has closed down more
(undisclosed) mobile money agent lines in a bid to arrest the deterioration
in value of the Zimbabwe local currency. According to The Herald, the
Financial Intelligence Unit (FTU) of the central bank says that the agent
accounts were moving large values which did not make sense in relation to
the nature of businesses operated by the account owners. They quote a figure
of $75 million being moved but they don't specify over what period of time

Zimplats Q1 production up 31 percent   

ZIMPLATS Holdings Limited says production for the first quarter to March 31,
2020 totalled 151 620 ounces, which was 31 percent above the 115 908oz
achieved the previous quarter. The mine's six elements (6E) comprise
platinum, palladium, gold, rhodium, ruthenium and iridium. During the same
period in 2019, 6E production stood at 143 446oz. "6E metal production
increased by 31 percent from the previous quarter. During the previous
period metal production was impacted by an increase in concentrate stocks
and build-up of inventory in the furnace after a major rebuild shutdown," it
