Coronavirus India News  Updates: Today is the 199th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has recorded 68,35,655 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,05,526 deaths. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 85.25 percent. Coronavirus in Maharashtra   | 1,857 new COVID-19 cases in Thane, 43 more deaths

Thane district in Maharashtra has added 1,857 new COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 1,85,799, an official said today. The district also reported 43 deaths due to the novel coronavirus infection yesterday, raising its toll to 4,687, he said. (PTI)

Coronavirus in United Kingdom   | British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government is considering additional local COVID-19 restrictions for parts of northern England as the second wave of the novel coronavirus accelerates, Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said today.
New coronavirus cases are rising by about 14,000 a day in the United Kingdom and millions of people are living under a patchwork of different restrictions, though there is growing alarm about the economic cost of such rules.
"The virus is rising, in terms of the number of cases, quite significantly in the north west, in the north east and in a number of other cities like Nottingham," Jenrick told Sky. (Reuters)

 

Coronavirus in United States | The Trump administration wants to improve its relationship with China but it is going to hold Beijing "accountable" for what it did to America with the deadly coronavirus, US Vice President Mike Pence has said. Pence, during the only vice presidential debate with his Democratic Party challenger Kamala Harris ahead of the November 3 presidential election, asserted that China is to blame for the coronavirus. Coronavirus in Telangana   | Telangana reported 1,896 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of infections to 2,06,644, while the death toll rose to 1,201 with 12 more fatalities, according to a state government bulletin.

With 58,27,704 COVID-19 patients recovered, the recovery rate in India stands at 85.25 percent.

Coronavirus in Jharkhand | Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 89,702 today as 829 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Ten more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the state's coronavirus death toll to 767, he said. Jharkhand now has 9,759 active coronavirus cases, while 79,176 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official added. (PTI)

 

Coronavirus in  Andaman & Nicobar Islands   | The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 3,935 today as 23 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official told news agency PTI. Ten new patients have travel history, while 13 fresh infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

 

China to pay a 'big price' for spreading COVID-19 globally: Trump

US President Donald Trump has warned that China will have to "pay a big price" for the spread of coronavirus globally. Less than 50 hours after he returned to the White House from a military hospital where he was treated for the deadly virus, Trump in a video posted on Twitter from the Rose Garden outside the Oval Office blamed China for the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadly coronavirus originated from the central Chinese city of Wuhan late in 2019 and spread across the world, killing 1,054,674 COVID-19 patients and infecting 36,077,017 people.

Coronavirus in  India: Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 68,35,655, according to the latest update by from the Union Health Ministry. This number includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll.

 As many as 58,27,704 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far, the Union Health Ministry has said in its latest update.

 

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India stand at 9,02,425, according to the Union Health Ministry.

 

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 1,05,526, the Union Health Ministry has said.

 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 8,34,65,975 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to October 7 with 11,94,321 samples being tested on Wednesday.

 

A high level of more than 75,000 recoveries from COVID-19 reported every day. Recoveries are 6.3 times the active cases (currently only 13.4% of total cases): Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

 

Coronavirus in Odisha  | Odisha reports 2,995 new COVID cases, record 18 fresh deaths

Odisha's COVID-19 tally mounted to 2,40,998 yesterday as 2,995 more people tested positive for the infection, while record 18 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 958, a health official said. 
The state also registered the recovery of 3,455 patients taking the number of cured people to 2,13,672, which is 88.66 percent of the total caseload. (PTI)

 

Coronavirus Vaccine  updates | India's drug regulator has knocked back a proposal from Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd to conduct a large study in the country to evaluate Russia's Sputnik-V COVID-19 vaccine and has asked it to first test the vaccine in a smaller trial.
The recommendations by an expert panel of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) noted that safety and immunogenicity data from early-stage studies being conducted overseas is small, with no inputs available on Indian participants.

 

Coronavirus in China  | Mainland China reports 11 new COVID-19 cases

Mainland China reported 11 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, up from seven cases a day earlier, the country's national health authority said today. The National Health Commission said in a statement all new cases were imported infections involving travellers from overseas. The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not count as confirmed cases, fell to eight from 24 a day earlier. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mainland China now stands at 85,500, while the death toll remained unchanged at 4,634. (Reuters)
