Coronavirus update: Washington state COVID-19 cases pass 98,000
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington state reported over 500 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, with total cases passing 98,000.
The Washington State Department of Health reported 530 new COVID-19 cases and 24 additional hospitalizations. The state health department is no longer reporting coronavirus deaths on the weekend, instead reported deaths will be included in Monday's total.
As of Sunday, state health officials confirmed 98,201 COVID-19 cases, 8,018 hospitalizations and 2,239 deaths since the pandemic began in March.
Coronavirus updates : Victoria records four new COVID-19 cases as state's residents enjoy first day with eased restrictions; Australian death toll climbs to 905
· A number of significant coronavirus restrictions in Victoria were eased at 11.59pm on Sunday. People will now be able to travel in a 25-kilometre radius from their homes, up from five kilometres. There were four new cases and one death reported in the past day.

· Top epidemiologists and business groups are critical of what they say is the Andrews government’s overly cautious approach to easing restrictions, given the state’s single-digit infections.

· NSW recorded no new local coronavirus cases in the past 24-hour period, as the state announced it would be pressing on with easing restrictions after this was delayed last week.

· WA Premier Mark McGowan has called for more federal support after 23 New Zealand travellers arrived in Perth. A total of 65 people have travelled into Victoria from New Zealand via the trans-Tasman bubble.

24 new COVID-19 cases detected on ship docked in WA, delaying restriction easing
Another 24 crew members on board the livestock vessel Al Messilah docked at Fremantle Port have tested positive to COVID-19.
WA Premier Mark McGowan said the new numbers were on top of one other who tested positive on Saturday, and predicted the number may rise with with further testing, with almost half of the 52-strong crew having contracted the disease.
The government's plan is to get as many crew off the vessel as possible to allow for deep cleaning of the ship.
Testing numbers in NSW lowest in nearly two weeks
Testing numbers in NSW over the past 24 hours were the lowest in nearly two weeks, as the health department continues to urge anyone with even mild symptoms to come forward as a precaution.
A total of 6952 people were tested in the latest 24 hour period from Sunday to mid-Monday, nearly half of the total from the previous day.
It was the lowest total number of tests since Wednesday October 7, where 5970 tests were carried out.
One new aged care case in Victoria as active cases drop to 136
As of today there are 136 active cases remaining in Victoria, down just one case from yesterday. A week ago that figure was 191, and exactly a month ago it was 782.
Of the current number of active cases today, 11 are healthcare workers (no change from yesterday) and 11 are linked to aged care facilities - which is an increase of one since yesterday, after a new case was recorded linked to Uniting Age Well Preston.

Canada added 1,827 more confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the country’s total number of infections to 197,941.
Provincial and territorial health authorities said 13 more people had died from the virus, although those numbers are incomplete as British Columbia, Alberta, Prince Edward Island and all three territories did not report updates over the weekend.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 9,759 people have died from the virus in Canada, while 167,112 have recovered from the virus after falling ill. To date, more than 10.5 million tests have been administered throughout the country.
As COVID-19 surges continue in parts of the country, chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam urged Canadians to remain vigilant, follow government safety guidelines and adhere to physical distancing measures.
“We’ve sacrificed a lot and learned a lot during these many months of living with COVID-19,” she said in an online statement.
“Our challenge now and going forward is to remain united in our efforts to get all of Canada back on a slow burn.”
Over the last week, Tam said labs across Canada have tested an average of over 77,000 people per day — 2.4 per cent of which are testing positive.
As of Friday, “an average of 2,310 cases were being reported daily across Canada over a seven-day period,” she said.
In Ontario, 658 new cases of the COVID-19 were reported, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 64,371.
Health officials said five more people had died from for an overall total of 3,406.
So far, 55,371 people have recovered after contracting the virus, while more than 4.6 million tests have been administered.

Health officials also confirmed six more people had died after testing positive, for a total of 6,038 deaths.
To date, more than 2.8 million COVID-19 tests in Quebec have been conducted, while 78,559 people have recovered after falling ill.
Health officials in Saskatchewan said there were 24 new diagnoses and has confirmed 2,330 cases to date.
Since the pandemic began, 25 deaths have been linked to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan and 1,963 people have recovered.

Coronavirus in Pakistan | Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan have risen to 3,23,452, according to Dawn. This figure includes patients who have recovered (3,07,409) and the death toll in the country which stands at 6,659.
Coronavirus in India | Union Health Ministry: As many as 66,399 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s average recovery rate to 88.26 percent. Recovered cases stand at 66.6 lakh. About 79 percent of the new recoveries were recorded in 10 states and Union Territories – Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Maharashtra alone contributed more than 11,000 single-day recoveries, followed by Kerala and Karnataka with over 8,000 each.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has backed India and South Africa's joint proposal at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to ensure universal access to COVID-19 vaccines. Both countries had on October 2 submitted a communication to the WTO seeking a waiver from intellectual property obligations under the Trade-Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) agreement “until widespread vaccination is in place globally".

Coronavirus in Arunachal Pradesh LIVE updates | Single-day recoveries surpass daily cases in Arunachal
The number of COVID-19 recoveries in Arunachal Pradesh surpassed the daily new cases today, with 237 people recuperating from the disease, even as 55 new infections pushed the caseload in the northeast state to 13,406, a senior official said.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 2,824 active cases, while 30 people have succumbed to the infection. The recovery rate now stands at 78.71 percent. (Input from PTI)
