Zimbabwe COVID19 Update


COVID-19 update: As at 08 February 2021, Zimbabwe had 34 658 confirmed
cases, including 28 825 recoveries and 1 339 deaths.





 


Active cases at 143,625; global tally past 107 million


Coronavirus live updates: Globally, nearly 107 million people have been
infected by the virus and the death toll stands at 2,335,361


Coronavirus live updates: India recorded 8,947 fresh Covid-19 cases of the
coronavirus disease (Covid-19). The total number of active cases in the
country has fallen to 143,625, while the caseload tally stands at
10,803,533. Globally, nearly 107 million people have been infected by the
virus. The country continues to be second-most-affected globally, and ranks
18th among worst-hit nations by active cases.

 

The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2,044,071),
Kerala (968,438), Karnataka (942,518), Andhra Pradesh (888,423), and Tamil
Nadu (841,797).

 

As of today, 6,035,660 people have been vaccinated in India, out of which,
healthcare workers who have been vaccinated are 5,412,270. Around 623,390
frontline workers have been vaccinated since February 2.

 

World coronavirus update: Coronavirus cases rise unabated across the globe,
with nearly 107 million infected by the deadly contagion. While 78,972,963
have recovered, 2,335,361 have died so far. The US remains the worst-hit
country with 27,698,569, followed by India, Brazil, Russia and the United
Kingdom. However, it terms of the total number of active cases, US tops the
charts, followed by France, UK, Brazil and Belgium.

Nepal begins second phase of inoculations with Indian made vaccine against
Covid-19


Nepal on Tuesday rolled out its second phase of inoculations with
Indian-made vaccine against COVID-19. Citing the Ministry of Health and
Population (MoHP), Khabarhub reported that in the second drive, the
Covishield vaccine would be administered to journalists, officials at the
diplomatic missions, and frontline government employees.

 

Dr Shyamraj Uprety, Nepal's Coordinator of the COVID-19 Vaccination Advisory
Committee shared that the Covishield vaccine provided by the Indian
government under the grant assistance will be administered to as many as
300,000 frontline journalists, diplomats, and government employees in the
second phase, Khabarhub reported.

 

Although the plan had it that a total of 430,000 doses of vaccine would be
administered in the first phase, only 184,857 individuals had received the
vaccine, informed Uprety.




DATA STORY: 97.25% of all Covid cases in India have now recovered


With 446,646 more vaccinations across India on Sunday, the total count of
those inoculated reached 6,259,008. The count of recovered coronavirus cases
across India, meanwhile, reached 10,548,521 - or 97.25 per cent of total
caseload - with 14,016 new cured cases being reported on Tuesday. 




Covid-19: New cases fall below 10,000 for second time in February


The daily new Covid-19 cases fell below 10,000 for the second time this
month taking India'stally of cases to1,08,47,304, while fresh fatalities
remained below 100 for the fourth consecutiveday, according to the Union
Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

 

A total of 9,110new infectionswerereported in a span of 24 hours,whilethe
death toll increased to1,55,158with 78 daily new fatalities, the data
updated at 8 am showed.




Greece receives first batch of AstraZeneca vaccine, inoculation to begin


Greece has received the first batch of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine and
will begin vaccinations on February 15, the country's Health Ministry
Secretary General for Primary Health Care Marios Themistokleous said at a
ministry briefing.

 

"We received 45,000 doses yesterday, the first 45,000 doses from
AstraZeneca, and we expect more in the coming days," Themistokleous said.

Argentina detects 1st cases of Brazilian Covid variants


Argentina has detected the first cases of the new coronavirus variants which
were first discovered in Brazil, Health Minister Gines Gonzalez Garcia
confirmed.

 

In a statement on Monday, Garcia said that the P. 1 variant was detected in
two samples and the P.2 strain in two other samples recently, in travellers
coming from Brazil, reports Xinhua news agency.

 

"These findings highlight the importance of active genomic and
epidemiological surveillance in order to monitor the introduction of these
variants into our country," the Health Minister said.

Covid-19 impact: Delta Air Lines to leave middle seats empty through April


Delta Air Lines said Monday it will continue to block some seats on all
flights through spring break and Easter to provide a bit more space between
passengers.

 

The Atlanta-based airline announced Monday that it will limit capacity on
flights through April 30.

 

Delta said it will block middle seats in most cabins although groups of
three or more passengers can choose to sit together.

 


Covid-19: US reports over 2.93 million virus infections among children


More than 2.93 million children in the United States have been diagnosed
with Covid-19 since the onset of the pandemic, according to the latest data
of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children's Hospital
Association.

 

About 117,500 new child COVID-19 cases were reported last week ending Feb.
