NSSA refocuses investment strategy

HARARE-The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) says it is currently
implementing a refocus strategy that involves divesture, consolidation, and
optimisation of its investments to unlock value for the benefit of its
members who include pensioners and contributors. Arthur Manase, NSSA's
General Manager, in a statement said the authority will be divesting from
its 32.55% stake in Turnall and thee Authority's Board and Principals have

ZESA plan to pay coal miners in forex reversed

Government has set aside an agreement requiring ZESA Holdings to pay half of
coal supplies in foreign currency, Energy and Power Development Minister
Zhemu Soda said. In April last year, the power utility and coal miners
agreed that 50 percent of coal be paid in foreign currency, but the
agreement had not yet been implemented due to incapacitation of ZESA.

Murowa Chivi exploration inconclusive

Exploration for diamonds in Sese communal lands, Chivi by Murowa Diamond
Company is still ongoing with results so far inconclusive on whether the
area has gems that can be commercially exploited. Murowa,now officially
known as RZM Murowa Pvt (Ltd) has been combing for gems in Chivi for the
past two years. The diamond firm has more than 200 claims in the area which
reportedly has kimberlites believed to have gemstones.

Lafarge completes crucial test runs, US$2.2m plant bolsters expansion drive

ZIMBABWE Stock Exchange-listed cement maker Lafarge Cement yesterday said it
had completed crucial test runs on a multi-million-dollar dry mortars plant,
as work towards assembling another key plant began. A statement released to
NewsDay Business said Lafarge's latest forays would be at the heart of an
ambitious expansion strategy that is seen transforming Zimbabwe's second
biggest cement maker into a multi-product operation.

RBZ's OMOs keeping money supply on tight leash

is using to mop up liquidity from the banking sector is currently standing
at $4 billion, as the central bank continues to keep an eye on the level of

GetBucks Microfinance Bank has appointed seasoned banker George Nheweyembwa
as CEO with effect from January 1 as the fintech concern realigns its
management in line with the changing environment.He took over from Terrence
Mudangwe who left the bank at the end of last year after nearly three years

Tassius Chigariro appointed Old Mutual Namibia CEO

HARARE, OLD Mutual Namibia has appointed Tassius Chigariro as its new group
chief executive officer, with effect from the start of 2021.Old Mutual
Namibia's current chief executive officer, Kosmas Egumbo, will take up a new
position as executive responsible for Old Mutual's life insurance and asset
management companies across the rest of Africa. He will also have oversight
over Old Mutual Eswatini, and will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dairibord, Dendairy merger and acquisition negotiations still ongoing

DAIRIBORD Holdings Limited (DHL) merger and acquisition negotiations with
fellow dairy firm Dendairy Private Limited drags on with the former issuing
its 10th cautionary statement to the effect that discussions were still
ongoing.The planned merger and acquisition transaction negotiations with
Dendairy were first announced in July 2020 as DHL was suffering from a high
cost of stockfeeds, which had been affecting its raw milk production levels.

COVID-19 derails Simbisa expansion plans

EXPANSION plans by Zimbabwe's largest food chain Simbisa Brands Limited's
(SBL) have been put off the rails by the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic
which has grounded most businesses. The company said it had plans to open
over 25 new stores and employ up to 500 new employees this year, but this
now depends on how the situation pans out at the end of the 30-day lockdown

Financiers spurn NRZ

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is scrambling to attract fresh cash
for recapitalisation with international financiers this week saying any
investment on the national rail company will not be a viable proposition,
Business Times can report.The problem, according to several international
